Step 1: Create an FSA ID for you and (1) of your parents: www.studentaid.gov/fsaid
That is your electronic signature and takes about 1-2 days to be confirmed with the Social Security Administration. Make sure you and one of your parents (legal guardian) have created an FSA ID. They cannot be the same username and email address. Here is an FSA ID video to watch:
Step 2: Once your FSA ID’s are completed, please go to the www.fafsa.govwebsite and begin filling out your application.
The student section is first. Sign in with the FSA ID you created. Once you get to the parent portion of the FAFSA ask your parent to sign in with their FSA ID. This will allow them to use the IRS tool in order to download their 2017 Tax Return (always prior prior year) from the IRS. It makes the application much easier. Here is a FAFSA video to watch:
